Over the years of planning and implementing events for state employees, we annually held a Shape Up at the Capitol and a State Employees' Day at the Mississippi Farmers Market. We always had a blast especially doing some line dancing on the lawn.
In 2019, the US Surgeon General, Dr. Jerome Adams, visited Mississippi and toured several workplaces that are leading the way in improving employer health in Mississippi. He was encouraged by the use of best practices approaches from the CDC and HERO organization and inspired by the public-private collaborations occurring with the Mississippi State Department of Health, the Mississippi Business Group on Health, and other entities.
