Murray's journey began with a Bachelor's degree in Education: Human Performance & Sports Studies (1989), fueled by his passion for exercise physiology. His exceptional academic achievements were recognized with the prestigious 1989 Ben A. Plotnicki Award, reflecting his dedication to inspiring others. This ethos continues to guide his work.
Leading the Way to Award-Winning Results:
Throughout his career, Murray has spearheaded award-winning initiatives. He led teams in Minnesota to develop nationally recognized programs for organizations like the UAW-Ford Motor Company's Twin Cities Assembly Plant, Hennepin County, and the University of Minnesota. These programs showcased his ability to achieve synergy across diverse institutions.
Building a Healthier Mississippi:
In Mississippi, Murray's vision led to the creation of the Mississippi Business Group on Health, empowering employers to optimize their health investments. His work with Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company garnered a C. Everett Koop Award Honorable Mention (2019) for exceptional integration and outcomes.
A Champion for Worksite Wellness:
Murray actively promotes worksite health and physical activity on a national level, collaborating with organizations like the CDC, PAPREN, and the AHA. He has served as a trusted advisor to three governors for their Physical Fitness and Sports Councils (Minnesota and Mississippi). He currently co-chairs the Mississippi State Health Improvement Plan (uprootms.org) and champions local public health efforts across the Southeast.

Murray's expertise extends to speaking engagements and publications on a wide range of health and performance topics. His insights are valued by large pharmaceutical and business organizations.
Murray was awarded the Ben Award. Plonicki Award in the College of Education, Department of Human Performance and Sports Studies at the Universiy of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1989 which represented the student who has demonstrated professional promise and personal growth. Selection criteria included the student who demonstrates integrity, responsibility, dedication to principle and fitnes of mind, body, and spirit.
Murray works with the Roe Group of Companies and is dedicated to optimizing human capital and health in Belize. He works with internal team members and external partners to hold training programs to develop and improve employee performance and optimize health. The Purple Shirts Leadership Development Program continues to allow future leaders to continue learning and being mentioned by leaders across the enterprise.
